Chinese kung fu has never been just a fist and foot move, but a set of life practices that integrate the body, skills, and mind, and its true meaning lies in the fact that it is to first cultivate the body, then practice skills, and finally cultivate the mind.
Nourishing the body is the foundation of martial arts. The boxing proverb says, "Before practicing martial arts, first nourishing the body", kung fu is not for the purpose of being strong, but to strengthen the body as the original intention. From pile work foundation building to breathing harmony, from step-by-step muscle and bone stretching to the maintenance of work and rest, it is all to conform to the body and nourish the vitality. Do not use brute force, do not bear the pain, let the qi and blood flow smooth, the muscles and bones are strong, and the nourishment is replaced by training, and the practice is promoted, which is the most simple wisdom of kung fu and the foundation of those who practice martial arts.
Practicing skills is an extension of health care. With a strong body as the foundation, you can learn moves, practice skills, and understand force before you can make your skills land. From the solid tempering of basic skills, to the combination of rigidity and softness of boxing, from the agility and stability of footwork, to the rhythm of strength, every move pays attention to standardization and conformity to nature. Practicing skills is not the pursuit of fierceness and courage, but tempering the coordination and control of the body, so that skills can become the support for maintaining the body and mind and self-defense, rather than showing off skills.
Cultivating the mind is the highest state of kung fu. After practicing martial arts for a long time, you will know that in addition to fists and feet, you will cultivate your mind. Stand on the pile to sharpen your concentration, practice boxing to cultivate patience, and abide by rules and cultivate virtue. A true martial artist is restrained and humble, respects the teacher, respects the rules, does not bully the weak, and is not impetuous and public. Kung Fu is practiced to the depths, and it is a calm, tolerant, and peaceful character, so that the body and mind are united, and both internal and external cultivation are practiced.
Maintaining the body, practicing skills and strengthening, and cultivating the mind are the way of inheritance of Chinese kung fu, and it is also the lifelong practice of martial arts practitioners.
